Tour from Athens to Meteora by Train

Tour Information

Experience the awe-inspiring beauty of Meteora, one of Greece’s most extraordinary destinations and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The landscape—towering rock formations topped with centuries-old monasteries—offers a sense of wonder from the very first moment.

Your journey begins early in the morning at Larissa Station, in the heart of Athens. The train departs at 07:52 AM, taking you through the peaceful Greek countryside. During the ride, enjoy ever-changing views: quiet villages, green hills, and a side of Greece that most travelers never get to see.

Around 12:05 PM, you’ll arrive in Kalabaka, where one of our partners will be waiting to welcome you and take you to your hotel. In the afternoon, at 16:15, your Meteora adventure begins with a truly unforgettable experience: the Meteora Sunset Tour. You’ll visit panoramic viewpoints and soak in the golden hour as the rocks and monasteries are bathed in warm light. It’s more than a tour—it’s a moment of serenity and awe. After the tour ends, around 20:30, you’ll return to your hotel for a relaxing overnight stay.

The next day, you’ll choose the type of experience that suits you best—both options are included in your package. You can either join a midday sightseeing tour and explore more of Meteora’s rich spiritual and architectural heritage, or you can opt for a guided hiking tour through the ancient footpaths once used by monks and hermits. Whether you seek knowledge, nature, or both, Meteora delivers.

After your activity, you’ll have free time to explore Kalabaka at your own pace—grab a coffee, enjoy a meal, or shop for local products. At 18:10, our team will meet you and take you back to the train station. The return train departs at 18:22, and by the evening you’ll be back in Athens, carrying with you memories, images, and emotions that will stay with you forever.
